Mayor visits Abbeyfield for coffee and conversation
The Mayor of Westbury, Cllr Jane Russ, dropped in to a coffee and cake morning at Abbeyfield House sheltered housing scheme in Westbury on Thursday 13th February.
Abbeyfield House was open to the public for the event to learn more about the services they offer, with the Mayor in special attendance.

Cllr Russ took the opportunity to chat to the residents about their life at the house, and to hear from staff about the rewarding nature of their jobs and the challenges faced by sheltered housing providers in modern society.
She said, “It was so nice to meet the residents at Abbeyfield House. It was a surprise to me that only one originally came from the local community. They have come from all over, and they are lovely!”
The residents were quick to point out the benefits of living at Abbeyfield House, in particular the friendships that they have developed with other residents and their enhanced quality of life.
One said, “My son found Abbeyfield for me and my life has physically improved since being here.”
